It did not take very long. Do you think lawyers are just doing research and working pro bono? Ask.
The school district already has their legal eagles busy. So why can't parents? Lawyers are good in rescue and recovery. Bread gets buttered. I saw one comment critizing the use of fund raising money to pay lawyers.
The memorials are growing, Go Fund Me accounts are increasing as well. There are patterns after a school shooting. Bend, Oregon will not escape the pattern.
The news conferences end for the most part. Lawyers get hired. People ask if this could have been prevented. Staff will be warned not to discuss.
Two witnesses were situationally aware and started the rescue and recovery. The situations leading up to the shooting will be written in court documents. Depositions will need to be taken.
What did they know about the shooter will be asked to just about anyone who worked with him.
Failures create common bonds but soon sides will form. Some will continue to blame every gun. Survivors and families will struggle with reality. It won't be easy. The news romantizes the first few days. People will talk about kindness. But controversy and conflict has started. Teachers and administrators quit or take meds. People move. Communities change. The children change.
Do you know that marriages can fail from the grief of a dead child? Some school districts suffer more deaths due to suicides.
See the patterns, before you see dead people in your child's school. Experts in the late 90's have been warning for years.

Who had a piece of the puzzle?
If I were a parent of a child killed at school, I would hire people to investigate too. Getting the picture made clearer can help in healing and is empowering.
