Do No Harm

There are a few updated comments on June 20, 2026. Same topic.

When I first labeled this post, I sat at a Mass and leaned forward. I do get inspired by my attendance. I was going to post about medical staff and abortion. Hence, do no harm.

I changed the trajectory of this post from what the medical professional can and should do, to the topic in this post.

Workplace violence and school violence connecting dots. I used to think I was thankful that I did not live under the Roman Empire, but then I grew up.

My eyes were opened as a young person. My night time prayer, unsupervised by an adult, but learned by example, included a litany of protection for people, places and things.

I guess those trips to the basement of my elementary school, which were marked by yellow and black rectangles with triangles, taught me there was a world of people who planned evil. 

I had limited control especially of earthquakes  volcanoes, hurricanes and bombs. But earthquakes, volcanoes and hurricanes are not man made, right? God, I was taught, is all seeing. He has control of nature but not where people choose to live or how they follow through with His basic rules on life.

So, I had to reconcile, free will, with God's will. That is not easy, but praying and listening helps.

Updates: June 20, 2026: A hospital in Wilmington, Delaware had a shooting this week. Suspect is a former employee, aged 23, Manhunt ensued into another community in Philadelphia. Community and workplace setting all rolled into one.)

The first video is not too far off from how some see the KA vs AM school violence episode. A CEO was the victim in this one. He was killed in cold blood because of his work. 

June 20, 2026: Many are cheering on the alleged murderer. Evidently, an insanity defense is off the table. He was appended in another community too from where the murder took place.)

The second video has a bit of a cleansing effect, at least it could have, if people take what is discussed as good advice.

Do an analysis of the videos. Keep in mind, Do No Harm.

I use all sorts of voices in my links. I found the first link when I was listening to the second link. I think the different points of view are on the same page, and not just for this post. 

People with good will want to understand, not seek vengeance.

It's 10 o'clock

Do you know where your children are?

When is bed time too late?

The news release yesterday out of Pittsburgh advised that a 17 year old is dead. The person of interest is 15 years old. The weapon was a gun. The shooting happened well past bedtime in a household with rules and in a city with a curfew of sorts. 

Where these kids students in any of the high schools in the Pittsburgh area? 

In Texas, a mother is grieving ( some say grifting) because her son is now in prison. He stabbed a high school student to death in broad daylight at a track meet. He will be in his cell, I bet, sleeping at 10:00 pm. This mother will know where her child is now. Did she know where he was before and what he packed in his book bag on any given day? Information on this man, is that, he had trouble before. Mom wanted freedom for her son.  The jury gave him 35 years of routine and curfew. It will be a different vibe in this gated community compared to the one he lived in while a high school student. 

Here is another young man's story.  Listen to the link. This criminal act was as an adult but his priors as a juvenile are extensive. Not sure what high school this one attended.

The judge's take is true. Why do people plead for less time? It seems this criminal was never given time out. I wonder if his parents knew or cared where he was at 10:00 pm. Now they will know, but will they care?

One question after you listen to the lawyer's bs and then to the judge. The judge starts off with chastisement, then he seems to ease up. Will he give in after a few months or is he advising hopium? Replacement parents, lawyers, judges and prison staff give in too. I worked with at risk youth. It is not easy to try to encourage adult youth when their parents didn't know or care about their well being at 10:00 pm. 

When the bars are set low for a child, iron bars can become a norm.

In what kind of gated community do you want your children to live? Gated communities, of any sort, identifies a criminal culture. 

Life is about choices. All of these criminals could have made other choices. Would a 10:00 pm enforced bedtime have helped?

I like 10:00 for bedtime, even now.
