Off with his head and an Antidote.

Today, if you are Catholic you celebrate St. John the Baptist. It is not a Sunday or designated Holy Day. But I went to Mass anyway. Part of the reason was that, I learned, that in Portugal, after a whole week of celebrating Saints, St.John the Baptist's Celebration has fireworks at midnight. "It's like our Fourth of July"! I was told.

"John the Baptist, the priest said, "like us, is a child of God." I learned forward. There were only about 22 people at Mass, including the priest who spoke with an Irish accent. I wish more had heard his homily.

The priest explained, "John was a miracle to his mother and father." He did not have an easy life even after leaping in his mother's womb. Mary and Elizabeth were cousins, and you know the rest of their stories. If not, read the Gospels.

Seven years ago, I witnessed two expectant mothers, cousins by marriage, as they both exclaimed that their babies were moving around a lot as they were talking! We were at a baby shower. The babies lept! They are cousins!

So the priest reminded all of us, with no one under the age of 60 present, that we are children of God. He also said how important prayer is. God listens as we pray for others. He hears their names.

I talked to the priest after Mass about the celebration in Portugal.

So pray, God is the antidote to evil. He hears that you are praying, even for your enemies.

And mothers, take some advice from the priest and Carol King. Our children need our prayers in this fallen world.

Carol King: So glad you are a child of mine.

Copy Cats and other discussions. Another yesterday news

You do not have to speak the language to get some of this. I keep hearing America and the Phillippino juvenile justice system in the discussions.

This title may help explain. This mayor is saying it is a wake up call. Also puts aside the bullying hype. This mayor gets it! Calling on parents and teachers. In English.

Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future.

What did I know in the past?

Cats and dogs:: Courageous and informative

The editors made me cut a lot from my book and advised to be more narrative on the sworn taped testimony. I had to drop some of my experiencing post leaving the classroom. Too long? Not believable?

My book does relate a huge issue in my neighborhood in NJ. That did not involve a cat.

There were two serious ones that did though.

I had a orange cat come visit from a neighbor. He rubbed up against my leg while I was in my driveway talking to a friend. I even said, what is it trying to tell me?  The next night, my husband woke me up. The neighbors, who owned the cat had a huge garage fire. It was used as a living area heated with a kerosene heater.  No one was hurt but living quarters had to be vacated for repairs. I wrote about that in a published poem.

Did the cat sense something was wrong with that heater? No one can convince me otherwise. The cat often sat on my front porch after that. I wish I could speak "cat"? I always asked what is going on today!

On another occasion, with yet another close friend at my house, the older neighbor, diagonal from my house, called to tell me that rental neighbors. who moved out, left a cat in the house (a different house and cat). My friend and I went to check.

We could not see a cat by looking in windows so we entered the backyard. The backyard was a wreck and full of trash and other things.

I went home and called the board of health.

The family, a father and two teenagers were friendly. They kept their heads low because the mother was in jail due to embezzling from her employer. The daughter was a cheerleader. The son was big, quiet and had a skinhead friend which was unsettling.

As my friend and I went back outside to wait for the Board of Health to show up, a man was walking up to that house. It was an insurance adjuster with a key. The landlord called him because of theft and inside damage. We entered with him.We called the police. No cat, but the walls were telling.

It turned out that the police could tie some of the info to threats made against our local regional high school superintendent. Nazi slogans and threats on signs and the bike path. Lots of graffiti on the walls and on the bikepath. Paint spray cans in the yard.

The Current's police blotter listed some info after the discoveries. Did the parent move because of the son? My neighbor, right next store, could see the fensed in backyard but thought nothing of it.

Lots of damage and clues inside. Lots of clues outside.

One other cat made me think too. It was regarding the direct ssfety of one of my children. Glad the cat and I locked eyes.

Do you think animals are intuitive? I do.

The animals went to higher ground as the people at the ocean watched the waves in Thailand. When we least expect it, pay attention to the animals.

They use dogs to inspect for bombs. Why?  This student's video is from 2006. Who brought the dogs in?

A famous mom gone missing

I do not think the news could keep up yesterday or Monday. How about today?

I know the Google thing and news feeds. I get plenty of other news too, but podcasters and MSM prefer to dissect the new that bleeds or soap operas which the KA trial has become.

The analysis of the Nancy Guthrie disappearrance and suspected murder is interesting. Some podcasters actually sat outside her house for weeks and weeks. Some moved on physically but still report. They are doing their work. Recently, the more offbeat ones have gotten arrested. Are they onto something? NG's house is in an off the busy path so to speak.  Nothing bad could happen there? Her community in Pima County is wide awake now.

The Interview Room which is like an investigative podcast has been diving deep. NG is famous because her daughter is Savannah Guthrie of NBC's Today Show.

SG belongs on a short list too, but the scene of the dissppearance is a home and she is pleading for her mom, an innocent victim.  February 1, 2026 is a day that can not ever be forgotten by SG and family.

Maybe NG needed a panic button. See related post on panic buttons.

Another reason this story has captured the hearts of many, especially TIR with Chris M. and company is because of the Sheriff. There is enough out there on the channels that I am not going into great detail. My blog posts are short on purpose.

Connect dots as you go along. Pay attention to missteps in protecting a crime scene. Connecting any yet?

ITR has a professional woman journalist (Chris M's wife),  former police officers, former FBI, and an author/practicing psychologist/psyciattist as regulars. Guests are invited and all experts in their fields.

Discussion is adult with no rants. Nothing has been resolved so this is not Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

I do not care for SG. I like neutral news people when it comes to subjects. There are not many in journalism today. But SG's mom is missing.

Ironically, she does not have a lot to say but when she does, her eyes cry. She does not need an eye doctor. Her eyes have seen the years and the slow parade of fears in other people's lives.

Now, evil has touched her home. Please pray for resolution and that the criminal(s) are found before they strike.

Community violence impacts us all. Some occurs in homes; some in schools, some in churches, some in corporate workplaces. Some draw national attention for the location or victims.

Some evil only ends through prayer regardless of circumstances.

Do you pay attention when a dog barks in your neighborhood? Throwback to the OJ Simpson trial. His name has been in the news due to the KA conviction.  I always felt that barking dog should have been brought into the courthouse. Dogs are intuitive. So are cats. A dog barked in NG's neighborhood around the time of the crime.

I appreciate the independent podcasters. Even without credentials, they dig for info. They find puzzle pieces after the fact to try to solve a problem. Puzzle problem solvers!

See if you can help solve a problem, preferrable before the FBI is called in.

What makes a dog bark or a cat rub up against your leg?

It's 10 o'clock. Do you know where your mother is?
