But not shocked nor surprised. Although, sometimes I live under a rock when it comes to trending movies.
The Lawyer You Know YouTube channel brought my attention to a violent event that did not involve a gun or knife. A movie/documentary airs on Netflix. It is not at a school setting, but I will get there in connections.
I watched, at least 12 years ago, a documentary series on Jeffrey Epstein so I am not sure what is so stunning about the information coming out now about him.
Justice for Sister Cathy was another one from the past (murdered in 1970) also aired on Netflix about a dozen years ago. No stunners there on sexual assaults and deaths in the Catholic Church. One exception for me, one of the former priests who knew Cathy very well, was a minister in a Methodist Church near where I used to live in southern New Jersey. I knew them by name. As a practicing Catholic, the perps nor the lawyers make me feel any sort of loyalty. But Jesus had cons around him too. He just called them out and could destroy their souls.
Both documentaries left the viewer questionning. My daughter brought these to my attention. But these two movies are only side bars. And Netflix is not the only one discussing them.
The current trending movie is about a car crash. At first, everyone thought the crash was accidental due to young driving, the authorities soon found evidence that pointed to, not so fast. Two young men died, one not so nice girlfriend now is in prison.
A lot of discussion, not alot of jail time. How much jail time if the driver shot the dead while they stood against a wall, instead of driving a car, with all three of them in it, into a wall? What if she used a knife? Would the jail time be longer?
It is not a brand new event but the Netflix retelling is trending.

This was not school related but you will see, in my next posts, where I am going with this.

The sister of one of the dead passengers is interviewed. She wants the story told but also another law?

We already need licenses to drive and there are many laws. Speed, anger, deadly intent do not mix, what other laws are needed?
Just wait for the next post, because "there ought to be a law" is not only chanted about guns.
