International news and Other

Are they really students torching buildings in Europe? News is not happy. Right now, Paris is not a very good idea. Will the Steelers play there anyway?

As much as I can, without being in contact with primary sources, I try to post with links to different news sources or podcasters for inspiration or information.  Even on mainstream media, which hires trained journalists, there are slanted opinions in the reports. The slant starts when the decision is made to cover the story. Discernment is necessary.

If you get your news from Tik Tok or other platforms, be careful. Whether you agree with our President or not, there is fake news. Spin can happen and AI generated reports are a thing.

Most times, all we can do is know our own environment well, including our children. And still, sh,,,t can happen.

In the link I posted with Jericho G., he mentioned a group. He rants with some knowledge but also makes assumptions. In the most recent school shooting in Bend, Oregon, it is too soon to make a statement regarding a hooded group. There is no evidence. The shooter's motivation is not known at least publicly. And, all the targets pictured are white.  Race baiting is not helpful as we saw in the KA case which did involve parents and schools who failed.

Hate does not have to wear a hood. If it did, then my city full of hooded sweatshirts is in deep. deep trouble. What about masks, post Covid nonsense?

Guns seem to be blamed with white supremacy thrown in. I do agree, there is a lot of handwringing when shootings happen in certain communities. Chicago and NYC..not so much. Why? People are people. Hate crosses all human components. Some cities handle crime better than others. Hence the shock factor in generally peaceful comunities.

Do we look for easy answers or is it easier to blame someone else? I have been a target of hate. My face gets judged by people of different shades. I have been spit at and actually told how much I was hated.

I tend to include information about children killing children in schools.. That is where I start. It was my concern in 1998 and my primary focus today.

The 16 year old in Bend, Oregon was a child. If he was 18, he would legally be an adult. If he was not "neutralized" at 16. adult punishment could be considered. His hate got him killed so no jury. I have no problem with the man who intervened.

I do realize that adults in schools can also hurt children in other ways. I pay attention  to those issues also. A school district in my general area has had news lately about staff. There was a similar issue when I lived in southern New Jersey too. Sexual contact, allowing hazing, all factor into failures to protect the young child. Do you remember when Barbara Walters, a seasoned journalist championed the relationship between a 30 something female teacher and her sixth grade student?  Jerry Sandusky was just doing what in a shower? That terrifying shower scene of sexual assault led to the demise of Joe Paterno, a beloved football coach at Penn State. He was not in the shower.

Parents kill kids, a trial about a mother trended recently. I disagree with the verdict. Parents killing their children happens more often than school shootings. What do we miss?

School shooting pierce our hearts and can happen anywhere. Unlike the statements of disbelief we hear immediately after the event, (even in Bend), no one is immune. Schools are supposed to be safe spaces. That of course is an illusion. Schools are microcoms of our homes, communities and the world. How many languages are spoken at your child's school. How many different types of families? How many different philosophies?

With all that, America is not alone in the rescue and recovery stage. This link is about another country. Does the rescue and recovery seem any different than in America? Are they still blaming America?
