The Anger Stage of Grief

A campus shooting, no matter how you feel about the victim, even if this death was due to the grand theory out there, questions on campus security need to be asked. If the theories on the grand scale hold any water, then ask, ask, ask. If there are holes, ask anyway.

After a period of mourning, which is always difficult when the death of a loved one is surrounded by controvesy, the head starts to clear as the heart heals.

In a civil society, lawsuits, not vengeance, are filed to seek answers. I am not sure why it took a year, but finally, questions are being asked, in legal formality, by TPUSA, about the shooting on the campus of UVU.

I was posting in podcasters' chats about the university's culpability last year. If you have the slightest knowledge on prevention when a lightening rod comes to town and complete failure to protect happens, you would ask to.

You do understand the university's job was also to protect their students, staff and the university's integrity?

I will post several links, some are news, some are podcasters. I hope this goes to a televised civil trial with no confidentiality agreements.

Now that the alledged shooter is heading to trial, more information will come out. The victim held celebrity status but the shooting was on a public university campus.

The reports state that the former University President resigned. Why was she dancing?

This story is not going away. Is CK the grain of wheat that had to fall to the ground? Regardless of how you interpret his life, he is more famous in death then when alive. The alledged shooter failed to silence his voice.

The university administration failed in protecting CK and their campus. I wonder how the donors are feeling now?

FERPA and the Clery Act may be headlining again. How about all the laws on school safety, will we get a refresher course?

Art imitates life in Law and Order

When television started the "tributes" to the school shootings, I was angry. Why was television glorifying the anguish of students? Technically, I guess these are dramatizations.

My news feed in YT, due to Google knowing just about everything about us, sent me a Law and Order 10 minute summary of one episode about the trial phase of a school shooter. In the show, a former colleague in the prosecutors' department was defending the shooter as a private attorney.

I googled and found other 10 minute summaries of similar episodes. Included below are two.

How do the scenes measure up to real life?

In the first 10 minute summary, the attack has already occurred? Is it rescue or recovery?

Why was the one character surprised that her suspect was not white? Are school shootings limited to one sex and race? Think before you answer. Was the young female character correct? What pieces was she assembling? Who was the shooter? How did other characters respond?

Does this episode get FERPA or informing police correct after a shooting? Why is the defendent's lawyer wrong?

What was the reason the lawyer gave for the first suspect running?  Would you run if a policeman came up to you?

Why did the second suspect run?

In this second link, what phase is portrayed: prevention, intervention, rescue, recover, all or a combination.  The title says Race to Uncover Potential School Attacker. Who is the attacker? Usual suspect? What is a rubber room? Righteous anger versus violence and vengeance? Were the detectives successful in intervention? Who is the red haired, white woman?

How can these episodes help in prevention, if at all? These are hard to watch, but not as hard as the "life imitating art" school shootings.

What is public behavior versus school records? Are threats protected speech?

Next up, an update on the CK murder. Who is in the line of lawsuits now? Criminal or civil?
