In my opinion, I absolutely understand fear when making decisions about children in schools. The policies and laws are complicated.
My opinions are clear about this case (s). I believe the criminal case should have gone to the jury. At that trial, why wasn't the now viral video of the apprehension of the child shown by the prosecutor? (The coverage of the school shooting has obviously touched a nerve with me.) It touched a nerve with news reporters, podcasters and viewers. Read the comments under the videos. Those are not even the chats.
I do not have comments turned on, purposely. Take the information and your comments where it counts to school board meetings, PTA, or a child's teacher. Share my opinions if you need to. Help the teachers overcome their fears. School shootings go viral. Prevention usually is not a viral video topic or best seller.
Newport News: failure to act all the way around except by a Grand Jury. The parents are the primary care givers. The mother is on my mother's list of school shooters. The teachers and other staff let fear overcome their gut reactions. The vice principal was indicted by a grand jury. The judge showed favor to the dependent in my opinion and interfered with due process. Did the prosecutor bring a wrong charge? The defense lawyer was good at interrupting the process. The VP was on trial, not the school district.
A grand jury brought the criminal trial so it was due process proceeding, until a judge stopped it. Some of that coverage online is now behind pay walls.

Willful omission per the prosecutor. Hmm.
Unfortunately, the laws do not teach morality or common, decent behavior. A courtroom in a criminal case is the result of rescue and recovery. Prevention did not happen.
Copy and paste: The teacher filed this lawsuit and won the civil case, also televised. It went forward against Ebony Parker. Look at the names listed. Read other posts related to this.

The public certainly has cast a judgement. The viral video of JT will haunt that child for the rest of his life. Will it haunt you before it is behind a paywall?
I think JT should have been listed as one of the victims, not because of his innocence, but because of his actions. Discuss this case and go back and check off stages where steps for prevention were missed.
The court of public opinion certainly differs from the judicial system.
Sadly. the child learned street justice from his mother? That is a question. ASKing saves kids from more than just gun violence.
