If you are a college student, staff member, community member living near a college campus, parent, a high school student excited about the prospect of enrolling in higher education classes, you have consumer rights.
Many pay very high tuitions and expect nothing from the staff at institutions of higher learning. Cancelled classes are fun, but cost you money each time. Crimes on campus are always costly. Reputations, lawsuits, fines, injuries, deaths: what you do not know about your college campus could kill you.

In November 2026, the public can participate in revisions via commentary to The Clery Act. This is codified law. The Clery Act is not just about notifications. It is binding legal requirements for colleges which receive federal money.

Let CK's death on a college campus be a starting point for you. Regardless of the "who dun it" scenarios, the alleged shooter acting alone or "CO and company" take on his death on September 10, 2025, a college campus allowed easy access to a rooftop which, per their info submitted for The Clery Act for the years preceeding 2025, the rooftops "were not accessable." Somebody skipped a beat, and CK's heart stopped beating as a result of a gun shot from a rooftop at UVU.
