In my Pittsburgh local news feed, the link with a comment by a victim's mother showed up. One mother's child was killed. The other mother's son was the killer.
The mother's club, one mother, in my opinion, should be jail. If more investigation had gone on with Marcee Colt then maybe (?) four families, including the dead child's mother, would not be sitting in court as a victim, listening to another mother's sick laughter.
The media can be neutral on killer's families. I know the media was not intrusive to my friend in the past. But other times, the media projects them in the same light as the actual victims. Mrs. Kleinbold was given a forum when she should have been shut down (unless testifying in open court.) Hopefully, this killer's mother will not have any more fame then the 15 minutes already allotted.
The plea sentencing trial of Colt Gray showed a well planned school shooting with copycat aspects to at least three other school shootings.
The Judge gave life without parole.
The killer's mother was part of the problem with drugs, violence, and abuse. Too bad a deeper dive on the previous open cases on the killer's family had not been done. Thr killer had behavioral problems many years earlier in school. Maybe an autopsy of his brain will be done when he dies.
The prosecutor said he couldn't do a trial where Colt was considered a victim. Well, how about one in which his siblings were victims or even Marcee's mother (an enabler at best) as a victim?
The mother of this school shooter is culpable.
Maybe she did not buy the guns, but she gave her Zoloft to her killer son and had contact when she was not supposed too. She was not a true mother.
The mothers' clubs, neither one of which do most mothers ask to join. Marcee is maybe an exception.
This school shooting from Sept 4, 2024 is yesterday's news today, until the next well planned event happens. You can bet there will be another mother added to the clubs.
Hopefully, some of the information brought out in the trial of the killer and the killer's father (serving 15 years for culpability) will alert for prevention.
I will never forget that I had hope for a child's future when his parents and my school did not.

Speak up. School shooting are no laughing matters. Well, maybe to Marcee and the fat man of NJEA they are.
